A night at the theatre

If you haven't heard about this concert-at-a-theatre deal, you have now.

My afternoon started by channel surfing in my car. I stumbled across the awesome Joel Plaskett song "Nowhere With You" on Z99. Believe me, I only visited the station because I was searching for something to listen to.

Anyway, I poked around and tried what was new with the Maritime's favourite son. He always puts on such great shows, has been to Regina a few times and he's a really underrated artist. I hadn't heard anything from him in some time.

I learned that the Galaxy Cinema in Regina is hosting a bunch of concerts on film, featuring, of course, Joel Plaskett, as well as bands like Great Lake Swimmers, Alex Cuba and Royal Wood, Thom Yorke, The White Stripes, Beck, Jarvis Cocker, Sonic Youth Jose Gonzalez, Radiohead, PJ Harvey and Super Furry Animals.

It appears the shows are in HD and dolby sound.

TORONTO - Cineplex Entertainment is inviting you to rock on at The Fall Concert Series presented on the big screen in High Definition (HD) and digital surround sound exclusively at participating Cineplex Entertainment theatres.

Beginning Wednesday October 1st through Wednesday November 19th, guests can enjoy five fantastic and unique concerts featuring many of the hottest bands and artists in music today.

"We are excited to present our first-ever Fall Concert Series exclusively to our guests across the country," said Pat Marshall, Vice-President, Communications and Investor Relations, Cineplex Entertainment. "Watching the great line-up of bands and artists perform on the big screen in HD and digital surround sound will be an experience like no other. We are also offering our guests the opportunity to purchase individual tickets or in packages and either choice can be purchased in advance ensuring guests get the concerts they want."

Beginning Friday September 19th, individual tickets are available online at www.cineplex.com as well as at participating theatre box offices. General Admission is $10.95 + tax. Guests can purchase tickets to all five concerts for $39.95 + tax or any three concerts for the package price of $24.95 + tax. Concert ticket packages can be purchased in person only at any of the participating theatres and cannot be purchased online at this time.

From the Basement, the first three concerts in the series, features 17 different bands shot without an audience in a private setting to capture them at their most relaxed. These engaging performances from Radiohead, The White Stripes, Beck and more give you all-access to the private recording session experience.

inDef Sessions, the remaining two concerts in the five concert series, is the first-ever Canadian Independent Concert Series produced in HD and features Great Lake Swimmers, Joel Plaskett Emergency, Alex Cuba and Royal Wood. Each date features two one-hour concerts.
