Hey there...
Well, I had a great chat with Gordie Johnson this morning - Grady performs in a couple of Fridays from now with Nashville Pussy, so we chatted about what he's been up to. I won't scoop myself -- there'll be a story in an upcoming edition of the Leader-Post, but I will share this fabulous news. He said that he's in the middle of mixing the new Joel Plaskett CD. That's good news for Plaskett fans. And if you aren't a Plaskett fan, then you should be. Johnson is as busy as a producer as he is a leadman for one of Canada's coolest bands, even though Johnson lives in Texas. And no, we didn't chat about the American economy or hurricanes.
Just for fun, here's a cool, but technically-challenged video of Johnson doing an acoustic gig in Edmonton last year.......

While we're thinking about Canadian bands, Nickelback is about to release their new CD. Check out the link below -- on Tuesday at 4 a.m. Regina time, we can all go online to download the band's latest single. It's called "Gotta Be Somebody," and it's free.

Have a great weekend.

A Plumb idea
Hello folks...
Sorry for the delay — I had a weekend that was busy, only because I've been suffering from a back injury. How laziness and lack of exercise can be so debilitating is beyond me.
I heard that Regina's favourite son performed Saturday at the Riders' game — he had plans to, but whether he actually did, isn't known to me.
I bring this up because Plumb had a neat idea to distribute cards at the game that allowed fans special web access to songs that he had re-recorded.
The best news, however, is that Plumb and his band "The Willing" have plans for a "fall tour" across Western Canada. I'd look forward to a night of Jason Plumb performing songs from the old days, as well as the new stuff he's been working on. Needless to say, stay turned here for any news in that regard.
In the meantime, here's a bit that I stole from his site.....
Jason and the guys are gearing up for a busy fall with a number of shows on the calendar, as well as showcases at Popkomm (Berlin, DE), the Western Canadian Music Awards (Edmonton, AB) and the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals conference (Ottawa, ON). Plans are currently being made for a western Canadian tour in November, so keep your eyes peeled to the tourdates to see if they'll be hitting your town.
Onwards and upwards everyone!
